This post is about Episode 70. There is gap from 56 I think it is to this post. That is not a mistake. Episode 56-70 are about Goku fighting the Red Ribbon Army. Almost the entire story arc is about guns and tanks and planes and armies. The kung fu teaching is minimal.

I wanted to reiterate the genesis and purpose of this blog since it has been so long since the first post.

I was using Dragonball as a way to demonstrate martial arts concepts to people. Many people said this was foolish. DBZ was only a cartoon. None of it was real.

My position was that the cartoon was created by Asian people who understood martial arts and martial arts theory. My claim was that the Asian people incorporated their real world knowledge of martial arts and martial arts theory into the cartoon. Various parts of the cartoon are based on real life martial arts.

The doubters would have none of it. They completely refused to accept this was possible.

This blog was set up to prove my point. In all of the examples up to this point, some of which are so obvious as to seem silly to even include in the blog, the point has been proven.

There are many instances of real life martial arts principles and theory laced throughout DBZ. A person could learn some basic ideas about martial arts from DBZ. It is legitimate to use the childs cartoon Dragonball Z in order to demonstrate real world martial arts.

This entry is a perfect example. In this video, Yamcha is fighting an invisible man. The invisible man beats Yamcha for awhile. Then Yamcha realizes that the invisible man must still be making noise. Yamcha then closes his eyes and concentrates on listening for the invisible man.

This is a common idea from martial arts. At high levels of martial arts in real life, the practitioner is supposed to be able to fight other people blindfolded.
